Latest Reads: Spring 2014

Latest Reads: Spring 2014
Happy May…er…Spring! I don’t even know where to go from here…seriously…where does the time go??? This started off as a ‘March/April Latest Reads’ and now it’s turned into a ‘Spring’ edition, because it’s MAY! I don’t even know what to say, except…’it’s beyond me’! Honestly, I’m baffled! I mean, I knew time flew faster when you got older, but this is out of control! Time goes too damn fast!
So what happens when one actually has time???
Sadly, not as much as one would hope! Lots of school work and minimal writing, which is LAME! But the REAL world demands certain expectations. Regardless, I dig what gets thrown at me (for the most part), so I’m always looking for new adventures/opportunities! AND thankfully…no matter what comes my way, there is ALWAYS a good book to inspire/entertain/distract me! Without further adieu, please enjoy my thoughts on some of my latest great books!

The Husband’s Secret by Liane Moriarty
I LOVED this book! It was well written and engaging the entire time. In this story, we meet a variety of people whose lives will all intertwine quite dramatically. I’ll be honest, I had ‘the husband’s secret’ figured out early, but I was not deterred in the slightest. In fact, the author lets the readers in on ‘the secret’ about halfway through the story. Then the reader must learn how exactly that secret with effect the lives of all the characters. And I saw the ending coming a mile away, so I was ready to give it four stars…until the prologue! At the very end the author outlines all of the different scenarios that could (or could not) have happened, along with other other secrets that may (or may not) have been kept. Let’s face it, we all have secrets and some are definitely better left buried.
Final thought: All in all, it was a great read!

Burned by Ellen Hopkins
In this story, we follow a young, Mormon, teenage girl. She leads a sheltered life complete with an alcoholic abusive father and a submissive mother. As the eldest, she is responsible for caring for her younger sisters, but her body begins to change and hormones begin to rage. Suddenly family, responsibility and religion aren't her top priorities any more. In fact, she begins to question everything in life, while making some very grown-up choices, which of course come with a bevy of consequences. I couldn’t put this book down, until the end, which I HATED!
Final thought: I gave this book four stars because of the ending. I hope the author has something better planned for the sequel!

Lone Survivor by Marcus Lutrell and
I loved this one as well. This is the story of the Navy SEAL team that went into Afghanistan and only one came out, hence the name. It is a long story, and it took me months to read. (Not because I had trouble keeping interest, but because it has very long chapters, and I read by chapters. Very rarely do I have 45-60 minutes to sit down and read). However, I recently took a trip and I was able to finish it in 6 hours of travel…all I needed was time! This story story whirled and twirled me through a bevy of emotions. In fact, it got out of control. At one point, I was sobbing like an infant on the plane and the flight attendant had to ask me if I was OK. In this story, we follow Marcus through SEAL training, then on his mission to Afghanistan, where he details every event that took place. There are times when I was VERY angry at people and cultures. AND there were also time when my faith in humanity was restored. An incredible read!
Final thought: I look forward to seeing if Mark Wahlberg can do Marcus Lutrell justice on the big screen.

The Cuckoo’s Calling by Robert Galbraith (a.k.a J.K. Rowling)
I should probably start this with…I LOVE HARRY POTTER! I have fond memories of lying in bed or on the couch reading many HP books cover to cover...just amazingly well written! BUT I went into 'Cuckoo' with a full understanding that this was NOT ‘Harry Potter’. It is not even remotely close to fantasy. It is realistic fiction/mystery to the nth degree. I have the utmost respect for J.K. Rowling. She is my idol and I aspire to be like her one day, but this story fell short for me. I had the killer pegged early on. AND…I’ll be honest…it really pissed me off I had to wait until the middle of the book to understand the significance of the ‘Cuckoo’! Don’t get me wrong…there were GREAT parts! I LOVE the private eye, Corman Strike, and his secretary (I’ve already put the next book on my wish list!), but there were also many other parts that fell short for me.
Final thought: Will I continue to read her books? YES! She’s an icon and she has an incredible talent. I admire her for getting out of her comfort zone!

So far on the next on the 'Latest Reads' list:
Dances with Dragons by George R.R. Martin: The LAST published Game of Thrones book. In all honestly, Martin had better hurry up with the rest! So far, I hate to put this one down!
Reinfection by Cynthia Hickey: The 4th zombie novella in a series, written by a friend of mine, is keeping me VERY intrigued!
THEN: I’m not sure….I have a ton downloaded that I must choose from…I will NOT download any new books! I will NOT download any new books! I will NOT download any new books!
Be sure to check back to see what comes next (and whether or not I can restrain myself from uncontrollable downloads)!
Until then….

“If the Silver Slippers Fit…”
FREE PROMO DATES: April 16th and 17th, 2014

If The Silver Slipper Fits…
Two feisty witches.
Two wickedly impossible dilemmas.
Two modern day realms infused with a little mischievous magic.
One pair of totally awesome and very sassy shoes.

"If The Silver Slipper Fits" begins with a story about Glinda, a teenage witch, who, like any other teenager in the modern world, is envious of another woman’s pair of shoes. However, these shoes belong to her sister. After stealing the shoes for her hot date, she trips on a crack in the Yellow Brick Road, falls through a portal and lands smack in the middle of New York City. Of course, she lost her grip on the shoes when she fell and now Glinda not only has to find her sister’s Silver Slippers in a city of 8 million people, but she has to find another portal to get herself back home in time for her date. Unfortunately, a subway train full of degenerates, a Naked Cowboy and herd of anorexic fashion models stand in her way. And to top it all off, the shoes change their look as the owner’s personality changes.

The second story takes place many years later, and centers around Glinda’s youngest daughter Giselle, who already has way too much baggage for a normal 20-something. She has been banished to Las Vegas because she set her college on fire, and to make matters worse, she supposedly is the recipient of a Goblin Curse. To top off her really crummy year in exile, a Blood Moon shows up at the wrong time, making her powers go out of control. She steals her Aunt’s Silver Slippers (sound familiar?) and suddenly her luck, and the shoes, begins to change…for the worse. Can Giselle’s Lightning Power save the ones she loves most? Or is it really all just about the shoes?

American Gothic

Recently, I got to collaborate with our amazing art teacher on a project. In art class, the kids created their own Mona Lisa, and in writing we wrote stories about the newly created Mona Lisa. Since writing is one of my favorite hobbies, I wrote a story along with them. I used ‘American Gothic’ as my source of inspiration (I did not partake in the artistry…I don’t have a single ounce of artistic ability…my stick people are sad and scary). It was fun and it may go somewhere…who knows? At least, it held the attention of 90+ fourth graders and it’s really not a kiddie story. J

Part 1 of American Gothic by Stephanie Greenhalgh
(along with some teacher notes):
Beginning: Introduce characters and setting. Use words and descriptions to create pictures.
Maude looked out the window. She inhaled a breath of fresh air. She loved the spring time in Farmtown, IL. The blooming trees and floral scents always made her glad she moved back to farmhouse she grew up in over a century ago.
A cool breeze blew through her open window and the curtains flapped wildly. Maude jumped at her own reflection in the mirror behind the coat rack. Her smooth skin wrinkled and crinkled before her eyes. Her ocean blue eyes darkened to a deep ominous gray, like storm clouds rolling in, just before they reddened and lit up like flames.
“I’m coming for you, old woman,” a wicked voice crooned before the mirror shattered into a million pieces, sending shards of glass flying through the room. Maude hunched over and covered her face, as glass littered the room.
Once the flying glass ceased, Maude stood up. With a flick of her wrist, she restored the shattered mirror and her ageless young skin returned, along with her icey blue eyes. She stalked across the room to the painting above the fireplace and smirked. Glaring at the painting of the old man and woman in front of her farmhouse, she spoke in a loud screeching voice.
“DON’T YOU DARE THREATEN ME, BONNIE AND CLYDE! I WILL BE YOUNG FOREVER!” Maude cackled and stalked to the kitchen to finish her potion.
Meanwhile, a small little voice, locked a dungeon whimpered, “I want my mommy.”
End of Part I

I’ll be posting the rest of the story in increments. Hopefully, you enjoyed it and will check out the rest! Plus I’ve got a ‘Latest Reads’ coming up! I’m currently totally hooked on “The Husband’s Secret” by Liane Moriarty…GOOD!

Global Blog Event Hop: The Twistedly True Tale of Ruby Hood

Keep the Magic Alive...a World of YA Fantasy

Ruby Hood was an interesting creation. I wrote her story when I moved back to Vegas just over 2 years ago. But now she is real; she’s not just a figment of my imagination. She’s an actual published character. And there are actual people that have read her story, “The Twistedly True Tale of Ruby Hood”. SO it’s like she’s real…kinda. Then it dawned on me the other day that I gave her a March 21st birthday. If we follow the book, she would be 18 today. It made me think about everything she went through in book one and suddenly a path to where she was going swirled around in my subconscious. Thankfully, that brief moment of inspiration realigned my focus for book 2. In fact, it was perfect timing because I have been stuck for MONTHS.

When I created Ruby, I always intended her to be a bright strong-willed teenager. Her father died when she was very young, but she was happy and readily anticipating her senior year. However Ruby, at the end of book 1, is far cry from the happy-go-lucky book worm introduced at the beginning of the story. I like our heroine at the end way more than the sweet innocent girl that started the journey with me back in spring 2012.

Happy birthday, Ruby Hood! Thank you for the creative and wild ride! I look forward to many more years in your company!

Check out a synopsis of “The Twistedly True Tale of Ruby Hood”, book 1:

In the small town of Woodsville, self-assured Ruby Hood becomes tangled in more than traditional teenage angst. With the Homecoming Dance looming, everything at Woodsville High appears normal, but things are not as they seem. Ruby meets a cute boy with a lopsided grin, Dylan Hunter. She flirts shamelessly with the football star, Kent Wolf, and finds herself in a barrage of harsh verbal altercations with his stunning yet wicked sister, Kayla Wolf. Thankfully, she finds solace in her friend, Lilly Fair. Through a series of odd and painful events, Ruby discovers her true calling and the responsibilities that come with her new power and position. Despite her heartache and sorrow, will Ruby find the inner strength not only to protect herself, but also to keep the Wood safe at all cost?

My Interview with June M. Pace

I’m lucky enough to live where spring has already sprung and I don’t know about you but, spring puts me in a perpetually great mood! Sun and warmth do wonders for my psyche. Of course, I had to go through a brutal week of allergies and little sleep, but that’s last week. Moving on to warmer and brighter things!
I am so excited to be a part of the upcoming Global Blog Event Hop, starting Friday, March 21st, hosted by the talented and wonderful June M. Pace!  I was lucky enough to meet June several months ago when she offered to host Ruby Hood on her blog.  I love her outlook on telling tales and having fun with writing (two of my favorite things, as well)!

Read on to learn more about June, her books, her blog, her publishing company and her upcoming blog hop!

Stephanie: First off, thank you so much for spending some time with us! To start, why don’t you fill us in on this Global Blog Event Hop?

June: This event is very near and dear to my heart.   I feel like there’s so much noise in the world that it keeps people from dreaming, kid’s in particular.  They have so much to contend with in their daily lives, and I’d like to make sure there is still an outlet that allows them to have the capacity to “believe”, I’m all about keeping the magic alive.

So much of the work out there now, be it literature, television or film, is heavy, hard and dark, it assaults the senses.  I just kinda want to see a fairy be a fairy and a gnome a gnome once in a while.   Don’t get me wrong, there is a place for that kind of work, clearly, however, some of us just want magic without all the graphic stuff.  Harry Potter had battles, but they were power based in magic and emotion.  It touches a different place in the psyche.  I want to be clear here, I’m not disregarding anyone’s work in fantasy because it may be more edgy or run with a darker theme, again, there are good works that use these ideas, and use them quite well.   We’re talking about me right now, and the event, and I’m simply about a more subtle approach.

I would love to get to that place with my work, and this blog, where it becomes a “go to” for people to find good YA Fantasy works.   I intend to pull back on some of the hosting I’ve been doing for other tour companies and get back to the basics, which is how this began for me.  I want to include interviews and guest posts for authors, illustrators, agents, you name it...anyone in the field that I think would be a pivotal direction for this idea to journey.  I actually have some middle grade kids/writers that will be featured on the blog next month.  I really would like this blog to become about the kids, for the kids.  I’m so about the magic, I know I keep saying that, but it’s true.  This event is a way to bring in our audience, our fans as well, not simply just bloggers or authors.  This first time may not gather as many entrants as I had hoped, however, I know this event will become something special as we build on this theme throughout the year and more and more people will absolutely wish to be a part of it. It will be a good place to network, to meet other authors of the same ilk, make some friends.  However, it’s really about the kids to me and keeping the magic alive.

Stephanie: I am a huge believer in magic myself! And any safe, fun, creative outlet we can provide for kids is simply a WIN WIN! Now, we want to hear all about your books! Please tell us all about the Benjamin Mctish Series.

June: Well, this series is my work, my daily work.  I’ve just finished the second book and am ready to begin the third.  It would probably be easier if I just give you the short version of the book blurb for the Grandfather Tree:

The McTish Series is an explosive adventure through a dimensional Gateway into another world, Coranim, a land of insight, thought and possibilities, that sits beneath the enchanted Gilley Forest.
One day Benjamin watches as a mysterious little woman steps out of a taxi and in one synchronistic moment their eyes lock and a series of visual snippets unfold in his mind’s vision. His razor sharp sixth sense allows him the freedom to explore the extrasensory messages coming at him like a derailed freight train. And when Benjamin finds a peculiar relic of a key in his grandmother’s garden shed he could never know his world was about to change forever.
Annabel and Mathilda, two sisters from America, have become more than mere friends to Benjamin as they are all plunged head first into this curious journey. They discover that the path they have chosen is inundated with many obstacles as well as intrigue, with the foulest of sorcery hunting their every move, the powerful dark beauty, Tar Vigorn.
Once in Coranim the children make the acquaintance of Esmerelda Fet, a potent Light Sorceress with a brazen in your face attitude who guides the trio on their Path of destiny.  However, a Path can change in the blink of an eye.

This first book is fun...it builds the world and the characters.  Benjamin who is 14, as is Annabel, and Mathilda is 11, are super relatable and current, which is what gives them so much personality, the sisters in particular.  I absolutely love them! They are so clear in my head now that their dialog just flows for me, I rarely, if ever, have issues writing them. It was something I had to train myself with at first, because the wordsmith in me would use proper language until I re-read something and realized, that’s not how an eleven year old precocious little girl from Boston would speak.  So once I let that go there was no stopping her...she’s my favorite in case you were wondering.  She’s such a great character, I can see her clearly in my mind as I write her, standing with her fists on her hips and her eyebrows scrunched up, she’s the absolute cutest!

I’m very visual, I’m an artist, have been for my whole life, so when I write, I write exactly what I see.  This ability gives me the advantage to really create something that allows the reader to see as well.  This has been a running theme with the critics and reviews, about the visualness of the book, so I couldn’t be happier...plus the first book leaves a great cliff-hanger which is always fun.   I’ve had fans write to me and say...Ahhh, when’s the next book coming!

However, the second book, Benjamin McTish and the Wizards of Coranim, is a roller coaster ride through this exciting world, this book is even better to me than the first, because I could go further.  We already know the characters, who to root for, who we love, so I could totally concentrate on the magic and the experience.

It picks up exactly where the first one leaves off and it doesn’t let up for one second.  It goes deeper into that world building that I love so much. I was an interior designer for many years and it shows when I describe a room or a store front.  I was able to play and bring in more of the steampunk vibe to the cities, (which I LOVE), and there’s a Jungle that lets me explore some interesting places of fear as well.

I mean seriously, Wizards...who doesn’t love a good wizard?  And since he’s on the cover I may as well let you know now, the main Wizard is an Aboriginal Gnome, and if you don’t think THAT wasn’t fun to write think again!  And I have to say the ending in this book..man, it even surprised me!  If you can accomplish this as a writer, I believe you’ve found your calling.  Writing is better than anything I’ve ever done.

The first book took me a year to write, this one only 5-6 months, it just poured out of my without a hitch.  And now I’m busting to get on with the third, Benjamin McTish and the Hidden Caverns of Bristonbel.  I hope the title says it all.

One thing of importance is that I hope to impart an underlying theme throughout this series having to do with three things, synchronicity, accountability and courage.  It’s really about having the courage to figure out who you are and then to live that Truth without being afraid.  To realize that your actions have repercussions and to stand up for what you believe...to walk your talk.  I’ve put together a message of hope wrapped up with a big bow of fantasy and magic.

Stephanie: WOW! The books sound amazing! The first one is on my list and I look forward to it!  I do love good characters, plus it sounds like a great read for my 4th graders. But I met you as a blogger and I’d just like to say your blog is absolutely amazing! How long have you had it? Any tips for new bloggers?

June: Wow, that’s really nice of you to say. I keep thinking it’s old fashion or something. I actually was going through hours of searching the other day attempting to find a template that felt like me, but a bit more modern as far as the layout.  In the end I’m sticking with what I have right now...I’ll change up the header when I have more time, make it a bit more magical.  Just need time to sit down and paint for an afternoon, so who knows when that will actually happen, ha!

I started my “home” blog a little over four years ago.  Then I began a Rock blog to showcase my Contemporary paintings of Rock legends, then I opened another one for a little while with Buddha art I had done that people kept asking me to do, and to this very day is the number one thing that brings people to my art website and home blog...it’s crazy, who knew so many people were looking for Buddha art?  Then I opened the storybook illustration blog when I began making my life about writing this series.  I really didn’t do much with it, just added bits here and there, here’s another illustration and that sort of stuff.  Finally last year when I got the first book published I decided to beef up my blog and make it about the book.  So that kept going for about 6 months until I woke up one day and thought, who comes to my blog, who really cares?  And that’s when I realized I needed to expand...bring in the kind of people that had the same goals so we could all sort of support each other.  And I’ve ended up here where I am now.
The number one tip I’m going to give is leave an email, a contact on your blog for people to reach you.

As I’ve been roaming around blog land this past week, promoting this event, I cannot tell you how many authors have blogs and not one single way to contact them!  Your fans want to talk to you...and people like me, looking to promote a worthy cause wish to include you.  Email..big.  Other than that, attempt to demonstrate who you are through your blog, put some personality into it.  A lot of blogs are so bland, or user unfriendly, just think it through.  You’ll keep adding things as you find them, you’ll fine tune and evolve.  That’s the way it should be.

Stephanie: Some excellent words of wisdom, and of course, you’ve made me wonder if I have a way for people to contact me, if they wanted to. Definitely something I need to check into! J Now, tell us a little about your publishing company, Pressed Leaf Publishing.

June: When I finally decided to self-publish I went through hundreds of hours researching every part of this industry...it’s mind boggling the amount of information out there and the diverse directions they can give.  I’ll keep this short, because there is so much to share about this.

I used Createspace to print my book and put it on Amazon.  If you use their isbn there is a group of numbers in that code, 615, that shows other distributors you are with Amazon, and they will not work with you.  If you use your own imprint and buy one isbn from Bowker for your book, that same number is in the code, and will tell distributors/bookstores that you are a ‘random publisher’, this tells them that you will more than likely not have a return policy and they will not work with you.  Only buying in bulk and registering your imprint as a publishing house will give you all the freedom you want.  However, in order to utilize all the benefits of being a publisher, you need to go the full route, setting up a business, which I did.

Obviously at present my plate is full, however, I do intend to help other authors soon, to act as a true small indie house.  I will keep it YA Fantasy; I may have an off shoot for some other work, we’ll see, but for now this is where my heart lies.  I am also listed with Lightening Source, which works with the largest distribution houses; however, I am not set up at this time to offer the full return policy, but soon.  And when that happens, then I can do a lot more for other authors.  I’m really excited about doing this.

Pressed leaf came from the idea of people pressing flowers and leaves in books, and then pages are made from trees..the grandfather tree....it all kinda worked for me.  I’m very happy I did this.

Stephanie: Sounds awesome! I just can’t thank you enough for joining me in this interview! I am looking so forward to the GLOBAL BLOG EVENT HOP, starting Friday, March 21st! Any last details/thoughts for the readers?

June: I suppose I would like to say how much it means to me to host this event and how I hope it can really become something that people look forward too.  I’m thinking I’ll do this again in autumn, so this will become a bi-annual event, we’ll see how big this gets.  I have this dream of bringing fans, the YA audience, to a place where they can find great works of fantasy fiction, a place that allows them the freedom to dream and to hopefully find their own inner voice....who knows what talent will come from them.

Thank you so much Stephanie, you have gone above and beyond to help promote this event, and I’m glad to call you one of my tribe!

Stephanie: It’s been a pleasure June, and I’m honored to be a part of your tribe! Best of Luck!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope to see you at the HOP!

Global Blog Event Hop

Global Blog Event Hop
I mostly write young adult (YA) fantasy. I’m not sure why; it’s always just sort of flowed.  Maybe I’m still just a silly shy seventeen year old with an affection for magic and fairy tales. Or maybe taking something old and putting a new spin on it, works for me. In “The Twistedly True Tale of Ruby Hood” (Little Red Riding Hood), my heroine is a high school senior about to face some of the biggest challenges of her young life. Then in “If the Silver Slippers Fit…”, my main character is the youngest daughter of Glinda the Good Witch of Oz, who also faces to many terrible fates.
OK, so I have a published book or two…now what?  These books aren’t going to sell themselves, so there must be the promotional portion of this new and intriguing process. I’ll be honest; the whole idea of self promotion is a new and uncomfortable process for me. I think branching out to others with similar interests, BOOKS, would be a great place to start! That’s why I am so excited to be a part of the Global Blog Event Hop! The fantastic Pressed Leaf Publishing is hosting this monumental event!

So here is an all call for YA (young adult) AUTHORS, BLOGGERS and READERS to join in the fun!

Latest Reads Jan/Feb 2014, Team Ava Urrea, and Breaking Bad

It seems unfathomable that it has been a month and half since I’ve posted a blog. Goodness! We all know the drill (excuse/reason/explanation): BUSY. The days just fly by and I swear every day goes faster! While things are been super busy and productive as of late, I have had limited reading time. I wish I had more peace and quiet to kick back and read. However these days I feel guilty, because there is something else I COULD be doing: grading, planning, writing, cleaning, marketing, planning, revising, reflecting, working out, doing something. As of late when I afford myself a bit of mindless relaxation time, I have two words: Breaking Bad. Halfway through the season, I am utterly and hopelessly addicted! I don’t know how people waited weeks or months to watch it, when it was televised. I can barely stand it a day goes by and I don’t get my fix. The writing is absolutely phenomenal; most episodes I’m on the edge of my seat! (In all honestly, it would be an enormous help if the world would pause long enough for me to sit down, uninterrupted, and just finish the series, BITCH! It wasn’t meant to offend. I have an affection for Jessie.)

Lately, the writing has been going well. I’m currently working on the next in the Precious Gems Series. I am so pleased to be working with Jennifer Paquette (my 2Muses east coast counterpart, business partner and co-author) on the next book. For Sapphires, we are weaving in a touch of King Arthur, Merlin and Lancelot (okay, she is weaving it in…my story takes place in a school in Vegas)! It’s already proving to be another interesting and exciting 2Muses project. This time the stories will be told in alternate chapters between the two inter-woven tales.

We also started dabbling in fundraising. As the west coast half of 2Muses, I am thrilled to announce we are currently donating all of the proceeds from our first novella in the Precious Gems Series, If the Silver Slippers Fit… to Team Ava Urrea in the 11th annual ‘Walk with the Heart of a Child’ in Las Vegas, NV. Ava is a darling spunky three year born and her heart needs some help. Let’s show her some love!

****End promo and resume Latest Reads Jan/Feb****

Regardless of what I’ve got going on, nothing will ever get in the way of my love of books. The entire reason I purchased a kindle was to read in the dark. Many a night, I stay up way too late, but some nights, I can barely make it through a paragraph until sheer exhaustion takes hold. Truth be told, I love being busy everyday and having a purpose. But when it’s all done for the day, it’s a MUST to shut the brain off with a book. Here’s a glimpse into my ‘Latest Reads’…

Little Red Riding Hood: The Ultimate Collection (Collection prepared and published by Damian Stevenson)

It’s no secret I have an affection for fairy tales, specifically ‘Little Red Riding Hood’, so when I stumbled across this amazing collection for $.99, it seemed like a no-brainer. I LOVED this compellation of stories. In fact, I enjoyed it some much, I purchased the Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty versions.
Final thought: Thirteen ‘Little Red Riding Hoods’ for $.99…a total bargain!

Allegiant by Veronica Roth
It’s fantastic! As a writer, I loved it! As a reader, I still have some reservations, because I became very attached to certain characters. The relationship between Tris and Four is so eloquently written and it keeps the reader captivated from the first page to the last page. Veronica Roth does an incredible job of creating a realistic civilization in this futuristic dystopian series.
Final Thought: It was a fitting end to an incredibly trilogy.

Persephone’s Orchard by Molly Ringle
I liked this story. I am a huge mythology fan and enjoy new twists on old classics. The story of Hades and Persephone has always been a favorite of mine, so when it was on sale, it seemed like a no brainer. I wasn’t disappointed. Sophia and Adrian (aka Persephone and Hades) souls continue to find each other year after year, life after life and here they are again in the modern world as two young adults. We also see many of our favorite gods and goddesses. My only complaint: the ending felt rushed and anticlimactic. Will I read the next one? Yes, I need to know what happens to these two!
Final Thought: I enjoyed the modern twist on some ancient myths and characters!
